Modge Podge + Glitter + Shoes

I am enjoying this shoe advernture.

But you know that moment when you're in the spa,

and your face is covered in mud,

and when you look in the mirror you see a giant mud monster instead of the

glowing,

beautiful,

effervescent goddess

that we are hoping to see?

My shoes are having a mud monster moment.

Mid-glitz, covered in their lovely mud mask.

The promising beauty

ready to emerge.

These are my sessy shoes at the mud spa.

The results will be worth it.

Here's the DIY to try at home!!

What you'll need:

*Mod Podge

(Now, there are many home recipes for mod podge...most common is equal part Elmer's glue and plain tap water. I chose not to go this route and spend the big bucks on my first go around. I got the "Gloss-Lustre" waterbased sealer.)

*Shoes to be glitzed

I went with some good quality heels that I found particularly gorgeous but that I wouldn't cry myself to sleep if it didn't work out as planned.

*Glitter!

I like ultra fine glitter. However,

chunky glitter is totally making a comeback. Feel free to experiment. You'll need about an ounce and a half to get a good few layers.

*A Good Gloss Sealer/Finisher

Make sure to use a glossy version so your sparkle really shines through once it's dry.

*A sponge brush

20 cent sponge brush. Super easy to find at any craft store.

So! How to:

Mix about a 1/2 cup of mod podge & 1/3 of the glitter of choice.

Apply full amount to the shoes.

Let dry for about 1 hour.

Repeat this 3 times.

I obviously like to go on to other important projects during the downtime, such as watching "The Big Bang Theory" or clean(er) TV re-runs of "Sex & The City".

Third coat to come. And once it's fully dried, I

will spray the completely dried coat with the sealer/finisher to make sure the glitter

doesn't come off.

I will then begin embellishing with lace and swarovski.

Can't take the glitter out of a girl.

Trust me, updated pics are yet to come.

Shoes, Glorious Shoes...

I love shoes.

I'm okay being a stereotype. They make me happy. And I am not ashamed.

And I have been talking about adding shoes to my shop ever since I got this adventure started.

Well--!

They're coming.

I have some hot heels in the works, and kids!

I'm excited.

Life's a Circus

My bestie Amanda

(from ArtisanMaskers, in case I don't say it enough)

is a pretty stellar photographer.

We officially met in high school

(please don't ask me how long it's been since then...!!)

and we've been doing fun photo shoots together ever since.

One of the most fun things about having our shops is the inevitable excuse to put off our daily do's and take pretty

pictures of our new merchandise.

Since high school these photo shoots have obviously grown,

to the point where we now use models, have hair and make-up done, pick a site & scenery, use full costumes, and basically give us something to plan and be excited about for months.

And in April,

we are going to have our

BIGGEST

endeavor yet!

A full-on circus themed shoot.

It's going to be epic.

We are collaborating with other Etsy shops this go around as well.

I won't name drop just yet.

Some are still whispered rumors.

But it's going to be awesome.
